Easter is the time when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The sacrament of baptism is an outward sign of an inward grace, where we identify with, and are united to, our Lord Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection.
May the power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead, be alive and working in all those who believe in His name, and who confess Him as Lord!
13 April 2008 saw a combined meeting between Christalite Chapel and the Boy's Brigade and Girls Brigade companies of Geylang Methodist School, who were having their annual parade and enrollment service. A special feature of this year's service was the dedication of new colours for the BB Junior Company.
Chrysalis Youth Ministry held a Christmas Outreach Musical on 22 Dec 2007. The Christalite Auditorium was converted into a cafe, and the youths had a rollicking good time while learning about God's love, presented in a fresh new way.
Daryl Chia shares his thoughts...
"It's been a pretty long four months since we had our very own CYM Christmas Outreach musical. As I reminisce about it, I am deeply reminded of God's unfailing provision for me and the entire crew throughout the few weeks of thorough pre-musical preparations and seemingly unending rehearsals which lasted hours at a time (sometimes late into the nights).
Christalite Christian Growth Seminar was held from 14-15 Mar 2008 over a Friday evening and Saturday morning. Valerie Teo shares her thoughts:
"We were taken through an exercise to ascertain the actions which make us feel most loved by those who are close to us. This practical exercise was modeled after Dr. Gary Chapman's "five love languages" - physical touch, gifts, acts of service, quality time and words of affirmation...."
On 21 March 2008 (Good Friday), Chrysalis Youth Ministry set up a series of creative exhibits (involving live enactments, human statues, music and singing, mime, artwork and audio-visual presentations) depicting what is known as "The Stations Of The Cross".
Participants who had signed up were led in groups to the various stations, and encouraged to reflect on the sufferings of Jesus Christ, who was tortured and crucified on the cross as an atonement for our sins. Many who viewed and heard the exhibits found it a very meaningful experience.
Unsure of what surprises were in store for the evening, I arrived at the canteen early and found myself surrounded by a large group of enthusiastic and like-minded CG members from all over church.

Long train rides, the hustle and bustle of people from all walks of life at train stations, rather rural residential and shopping areas, scenic universities and the occasional lake and park. Thank God that I could experience to a large extent the lifestyle of an indigenous Japanese, how it feels like to be 'on the ground', something probably a `tourist' does not get to feel. This has led me to realise, in a sense, the busyness of the Japanese in their daily lives, how they are always on the move - rushing and rushing. Perhaps not knowing what they are chasing after or perhaps its good grades in school and a good career with good money.
The past three years at Christalite Methodist Chapel have been a truly memorable and blessed time for my family. We would like to express our sincere thanks to you all for your thoughtful concern and prayers.
From the very beginning, when I came to Singapore, I faced a big challenge as my personal status was totally changed from that of a minister to that of a mere mature student. On top of that, I was a foreigner. I also had to undergo church ministry as a part of my field internship along with my studies at the East Asia School of Theology. Meanwhile God led my family to Christalite and the Upper Room 241 Cell Group.
Chapel Camp 06 was a wonderful experience! This was my very first Chapel Camp, and I prepared my heart by telling myself to be like a sponge, ready to absorb everything. I am so glad I did because I took home so much more this way!
I was assigned many roles to play, like Bus Captain, Discussion Group leader, and Worship leader among several others, but instead of feeling drained by the work, I was instead refreshed by the fellowship. The opportunity to interact with members of the Mandarin Ministry, Traditional Service and KIP proved to be invaluable. There was also time to know my fellow youths from CYM better!
"This year's Chapel Camp theme was "We Are Worshippers".
Indeed it was an interesting theme. The first question that popped into my mind was how to define the term 'worship'. My definition of worship was singing songs, but after the camp, my definition of worship changed from singing songs to praying and doing QT regularly, praising God and simply just doing the right things that please God.
"This year's Chapel Camp was held at Port Dickson. The place was really beautiful and the atmosphere was really nice. Perfect to get to know God better, right? Well, it was for me.
During the discussion groups, where the youths got to gather into groups with people their age, I learnt a lot of new things. I learnt that God can appear to us in any way, any time; and that if God doesn't answer straight away, it doesn't mean He isn't listening. Sometimes it even means that we're not the ones who are listening to what God has to say to us. I've also learnt many things from the sermons.
Christalite achieved Local conference status on July 31, 2005 when a Church Constituting Conference was held at its premises at Geylang Methodist Primary School.
This was presided by the Rev Dr Johnathan Seet, the District Superintendent (East). The church was constituted with 152 founding members.
A Thanksgiving Service then followed. The Rev Wee Boon Hup, President of TRAC, delivered the sermon entitled "A Church for the Future".
It was in 1996 that Christ Methodist Church, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, moved to plant a preaching point at Geylang Methodist Secondary School. The mission of the preaching point is simple - to lead students, their families and the community to Jesus Christ.
